# Directions:

01 - Add vanilla ice cream, whole milk, peppermint extract, vanilla extract, and green food coloring to blender container.
02 - Blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy, approximately 30-60 seconds. Add additional milk 1 tablespoon at a time if thinner consistency is preferred.
03 - Taste shake and add more peppermint extract 1/8 teaspoon at a time if stronger mint flavor is desired. Add additional food coloring drop by drop to achieve vibrant green color.
04 - Divide shake evenly between two tall glasses, pouring carefully down the side to minimize splashing.
05 - Top each glass with whipped cream, one maraschino cherry, and green sprinkles if desired. Serve immediately while cold.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The homemade version tastes like actual ice cream instead of whatever mystery mix they use at the fast food places
  • You control exactly how minty it goes, which means no more toothpaste flavored disappointments
02 -
  • Peppermint extract can easily go from refreshing to overpowering, so definitely start with less and work your way up
  • These need to be served right away because they melt fast and nobody wants a lukewarm mint soup situation
03 -
  • Slightly softened ice cream blends way easier than rock hard straight from the freezer
  • A high-speed blender makes the smoothest texture, but a regular one works fine with a little patience
